Akbar was deeply saddened by the news of her death. In Mandu, Akbar built the tomb of Rupamati. He was aware of his mistake. Sultan Baz Bahadur was freed from captivity.
The news of the death of his beloved wife was met when the captive sultan arrived in Saranpur, his capital. Remembering her sympathy, he felt that his life without a queen had no meaning. He bowed his head to his wife's grave and died.
Akbar also came to know about the death of Baz Bahadur. Baz Bahadur's tomb was built by Akbar near the tomb of Queen Rupamati in Mandu. He regretted that he was responsible for the death of a rare couple. On the tomb of Baz Bahadur, he written 'Aashi A Sadiq' (honest wife lover) and on Queen Rupamati's tomb 'Shahid A Wagha' (Faithful Martyr).
